Tenisha “Ava” Williams is the Inaugural Director of Inclusive Excellence at GW Engineering, where she leads efforts to foster an environment where students, faculty, and staff feel supported, engaged, and empowered to thrive. She collaborates across departments to develop initiatives that strengthen community engagement, enhance professional development, and create a culture of belonging.
With nearly 15 years of experience, Ava has worked with K-12 and higher education institutions across 38 states, providing strategic guidance and building inclusive learning and workplace environments. Her expertise includes inclusive strategic planning, training and development, and culture-building initiatives—all aimed at creating environments where individuals can succeed and contribute meaningfully.
A recipient of the Black Engineer of the Year (BEYA) Modern-Day Technology Leader Award, Ava was recognized for her excellence in engineering and contributions to the field. She has also served as an advisor and board member for several organizations, including the Montgomery County Public Schools Engineering Advisory Board, the GW Engineering Dean’s National Advisory Council, GW Engineering's Center for Women in Engineering, and the National Society of Black Engineers.
A proud GW alumna, Ava holds a B.S. in Systems Engineering from GW and an M.S. in Engineering Management from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She is committed to ensuring that all members of the GW Engineering community have the resources and opportunities to reach their full potential.
