1 Robot therapist for assisting in at-home rehabilitation of shoulder surgery patients Mahsa Alborz This study uses Finite Element Analysis to better understand the effect of initial out-of-flatness on girder yield-strength. This extends previous studies to include co-existing imperfections in webs and bottom flanges as well as both 50 ksi and 100 ksi yield steel plate. Code adoption of bf/200 is recommended for the bottom flange out-of-flatness tolerance, where bf represents the bottom flange width, based on this research and previous studies. Dr. Chung-Hyuk Park
2 Audio and speech analysis to determine emotional states of children with autism spectrum disorder for therapeutic use  Paul Azzi (ECE) & Conor Sheridan (CS) While previous research has been conducted to find effective means of determining emotional states of speakers, relatively few efforts have been reported on determining emotional states of users with disorders that affect emotional expressions, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Dr. Chung-Hyuk Park
3 Motion learning for emotional interaction and imitation of children with autism spectrum disorder Rachael Bevill & Samuel Cowin (ECE) Children with autism sometimes have difficulty expressing their emotions, and understanding the emotions of others. Both robotic and imitation therapies have been found to be effective in improving their engagement and interaction skills. Dr. Chung-Hyuk Park
