Nameless Documentary Film Screening and Panel Discussion
Join the Office of Advocacy and Support for a film screening of Nameless on Thursday, November 9th from 7pm-9pm! Nameless is a documentary that addresses child sex trafficking in Washington, DC, and at-large. Through interviews with experts, advocates, and activists, child sex trafficking is reframed as a form of sexual violence that is often made invisible. Child sex trafficking is explored as an issue with deep historical-cultural roots, while tackling misperceptions about which populations are most vulnerable to being trafficked, and illuminating systemic gaps in the current treatment of trafficking victims and survivors.
Following the film screening, OAS will hold a panel discussion featuring special guest speakers Yasmin Vafa, founder and Executive Director of Rights4Girls, and Alisa Bernard, National Campaign Manager for World Without Exploitation. You can read more about our panelist’s background’s below:
Featured in the Washington Post and ABC News, Yasmin is co-founder and Executive Director of Rights4Girls, a national human rights organization dedicated to ending gender-based violence against young women and girls in the U.S. She has successfully advocated for several laws at the federal and state levels.
Alisa serves as the National Campaign Manager for World Without Exploitation and has a deep background in and extensive ties to the anti-trafficking movement. She has collaborated as a board member for the EPIK Project, and contracted as a consultant for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Amber Alert, the National Center on Sexual Exploitation, and Demand Abolition.
