Joseph Signorelli
Joseph Signorelli is a freshman in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Toms River, NJ. He currently plans to major in mechanical engineering with a concentration in aerospace. In the upcoming year at GW, he plans to get involved with professional engineering clubs, community service, and research.
Katherine Goldrick
Katherine Goldrick is a freshman pursuing a degree in biomedical engineering. She is looking forward to exploring clubs and taking advantage of the internship opportunities that DC has to offer. Her plan is to go to medical school, so she is currently on the pre-med track. Katherine is originally from Long Island, NY.
Zachary Stecher
Zachary Stecher is a freshman from Atlantic City, NJ. He is studying in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, focusing on structural engineering. In high school, Zachary was a member of the cross country, swimming and diving, and crew teams, as well as the president of the National Honor Society. He looks forward to exploring the different clubs and opportunities that the university has to offer, whether academic, professional, religious, or athletic.
Lauren Bruinsma
Lauren Bruinsma is a freshman scholar from Springfield, PA. She is currently studying in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and is interested in medical imaging and advancements in tissue engineering. Throughout high school, Lauren was involved in community service, and she plans to continue this throughout her time at GW.
Masen Kane
Masen Kane is a freshman from Collinsville, IL. He studies in the Department of Computer Science and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science with a minor in Arabic. He is interested in the field of cyber security and wants to pursue a career in counter-terrorism.
Samantha Brick is a sophomore in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. She is interested in structural engineering, and previously interned at the DLR Group, an integrated design firm located in Seattle. This year, Sam is involved in the GW chapter of Engineers Without Borders. She is originally from Seattle, WA.
Caitlin Carfano is a sophomore from Toms River, NJ. She studies in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and is pursuing a degree in electrical engineering with a concentration in medical preparation. Caitlin is a member of the University Honors Program, as well as a mentor for incoming freshmen as a member of the School of Engineering and Applied Science Student Peer Advisory Network (SEASSPAN). Caitlin is also the Secretary of the Association of Computer Machinery (ACM), a member of Alpha Omega Epsilon, and a volunteer coordinator at an elementary school STEM club that she co-founded. She has conducted research in the Quantum Engineering Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania as well as research in the Medical Imaging and Image Analysis Laboratory at GW.
Camille Daszynski is a sophomore studying in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. She is a member of the School of Engineering and Applied Science Student Peer Advisory Network (SEASSPAN), an undergraduate representative for the Biomedical Engineering Society, a member of GW Catholics, and a member of Alpha Omega Epsilon, a professional engineering sorority. Throughout the course of her freshman year, she has been working as an undergraduate research assistant in Professor Murray Loew’s breast tumor infrared imaging laboratory, helping screen volunteers and work on mechanical improvements to the devices. Camille is originally from San Jose, California.
Allegra Farrar
Allegra Farrar is a sophomore pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering with a concentration in aerospace. She is currently working with other members of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) on the project Design Build Fly, which involves constructing a model airplane with specific qualities. She is also involved in organizations such as the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), GW’s NAACP chapter, and the National Society for Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). She is interested in the field of orbital mechanics as well as space missions. Allegra is from Canton, MA.
Delaney Foster is a sophomore in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and is pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering with a robotics concentration. She founded Unified Robotics, a Special Olympics program that brings robotics and programming to students with intellectual disabilities. Delaney interned in a neurobiology lab, where she studied spontaneous electrical activity in the developing brain, and is currently getting involved in a lab focusing on assistive robotics and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) research. Delaney is the director of Outreach for GW Scientific Review, an undergraduate research jourlal on campus, as well as a member of Alpha Omega Epsilon, a professional engineering sosority. She is from Seattle, WA.
Nathan Pollock is a sophomore in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and is pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering with an aerospace concentration and a minor in naval science. He is in Navy ROTC and is a member of the GW National Eagle Scout Association. He also tutors students at the School Without Walls with Professor Ahmadi and other members of SEAS. Nathan is originally from Latrobe, PA.
Zachary Williams is a sophomore from Upstate New York studying in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Here at GW, Zachary is a member of the School of Engineering and Applied Science Student Peer Advisory Network (SEASSPAN), a member of the Biomedical Engineering Society, and an intramural sports official in the Health and Wellness Center. Starting his first semester, he became involved in Professor Murray Loew’s research laboratory, re-constructing the website and working on mechanical improvements with the imaging device. This summer he will participate in the Masonic Medical Research Laboratory Summer Fellowship program, working with researchers and studying adverse effects of different types of cardiac arrhythmias that affect the human heart.
Sydney Bailes is a junior in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and is originally from Nashville, TN. She is a member of the University Honors Program, where she serves as an Honors Peer Advisor to incoming freshman. Sydney is also a member of Alpha Omega Epsilon, a professional engineering sorority. She also volunteers as an instructor for the An Bryce Foundation's Saturday Institute, where she helps teach sixth graders reading and math. Sydney has participated in multiple summer internships in Nashville relating to software and electrical engineering and hopes to use that experience to pursue a career in medical technology.
Jackie Bellefeuille is a junior in the Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering, pursuing a major in systems engineering and minors in computer science and political science. She is the vice president of the GW Robotics Team and is a member of the GW Chapter of Engineers without Borders and the Society of Women Engineers. During the summer of 2016, she interned with the City of Bloomington’s Traffic Engineering Department. Jackie is from Eden Prairie, MN.
Parmvir Chahal is a junior in the Department of Electrical and computer engineering and is pursuing a degree in computer engineering. Parmvir is also a mentor for the School of Engineering and Applied Science Student Peer Advisory Network (SEASSPAN), a member of GW Bhangra, and director of programming for the GW Sikh Student Association. In the spring of 2017, he studied abroad at Queen Mary University of London, and the following summer he researched reliable and fault-tolerant Network-on-Chips and energy-efficient multi-core architectures with SEAS Professor Ahmed Louri. Parmvir is from Alexandria, VA.
Joelle Dowling is a junior in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, pursuing a degree in electrical engineering. She is a sister in the Kappa Delta sorority and a member of the GW Ultimate Frisbee team. During the summer of 2016, Joelle interned with her local Habitat for Humanity affiliate. Joelle is from Washington Township, NJ.
Meghan Englert is a junior in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. She is pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering and is focusing her studies on biomechanics. She hopes to work on designing and developing prosthetic devices in the future. This past summer Meghan interned for JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute in the Prosthetics and Orthotics Lab. She shadowed licensed prosthetists, orthotists, and technicians while learning the approaches used for prescription development, patient follow-up, and the fabrication process of prostheses and orthoses. Meghan is a member of the GW Club Softball Team and serves as the fundraising chair for the team. She is from Wyckoff, NJ.
Conor Gillespie
Conor Gillespie is a junior in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. At GW, Conor is a captain of the Baja SAE team, plays violin in the University Orchestra, and is a member of Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. In Spring 2017, he studied abroad in Dublin, Ireland at University College Dublin. This past summer Conor interned at Bloom Energy as a manufacturing engineer, and during the summer of 2016 he interned with Traffic Planning and Design, Inc. doing construction management. Conor is from West Chester, PA.
Jonathan Medley is a junior in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. He is pursuing a second degree in theatre as a Presidential Scholar in the Arts. Jonathan works in various technical roles in the Department of Theatre and Dance productions with a focus in lighting design. Jonathan mentors incoming freshmen as a member of the School of Engineering and Applied Science Student Peer Advisory Network (SEASSPAN). He also tutors at the Science Lab at I School through Engineering World Health. Jonathan is from Richmond, VA.
Kyle Pett is a junior from Toms River, NJ, studying mechanical and aerospace engineering. He is currently employed at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum as part of the museum’s explainers program. His hobbies include swimming, hiking, and exploring new places especially here in DC. During this past summer, Kyle interned at Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity to help survey at-risk communities in his hometown.
Dietrich Reidenbaugh is a junior in the Department of Computer Science. He works for the SEAS Computing Facility and has served as the director of finance for the GW Residence Hall Association. During the summer of 2017, he interned at Intelligent Automation, Inc., a D.C.-area technology research and development company; the previous summer, he interned in the Wireless Communication and Signal Processing Lab at Boise State University in his hometown, Boise, ID. In spring 2017, Dietrich studied abroad at Korea University in Seoul, South Korea.
Alexander Snouffer is a junior from Hagerstown, MD, majoring in mechanical engineering, with a concentration in patent law, and minoring in mathematics. Alex is active in intramural sports (playing for the engineering team) and also tutors other students in math and science. Outside of school, he enjoys restoring vintage metal working machinery and mechanical antique watches. He is currently designing and constructing his own mechanical watch, including making his own tools and machinery for specific operations. Alex interned during the summer of 2016 at Crist Instruments, an engineering design and development firm in his hometown, and he currently working at the Machine Shop in the SEH.
Colby Bott
Colby Bott is a senior in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, concentrating in structural engineering and minoring in sustainability. Over the past two summers Colby explored structural, environmental, and construction engineering with EBA Engineering, and more recently, Clark Construction. Post-graduation he hopes to return to the work force and apply sustainable practices to the construction industry both in the office and the field. On campus, Colby is a mentor to incoming engineering freshmen with the School of Engineering and Applied Science Student Peer Advisor Network (SEASSPAN). He serves as a technical producer on the board of Forbidden Planet Production, a student theatre group, and he performs with the GW Band. Colby is from Plymouth, MA.
Sara Foreman is a senior in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. She is pursuing a degree in biomedical engineering with a minor in computer science. She has worked at the GW Office of Undergraduate Admissions as part of the Visitor Information Program since the spring of 2015. In Spring 2016, Sara studied abroad in Dublin, Ireland at University College Dublin. She is also involved on campus as a STAR tour guide. This past summer, Sara interned at the Center for Genomics and Systems Biology at New York University. Sara is from Malverne, NY.
Robert is a senior in the department of Computer Science. Robert grew up in Nantucket, MA, where he discovered his passion for computer programming in high school. Here at the university he works on operating system based research under the supervision of Professor Gabriel Parmer. Through this research, he hopes to contribute to developing a new form of virtualization for embedded devices. Outside of academics, Robert enjoys being a guitar hobbyist and competing in Ultimate Frisbee on the National Mall. In addition to these activities he is a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity and is one of the founders of GW's Systems Hackers Club.
Kate McNally is a senior in the Department of Computer Science. Kate is the vice president of the School of Engineering and Applied Science Student Peer Advisor Network (SEASPAN). Last semester Kate studied abroad at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology taking both computer science and humanities courses, exploring Hong Kong, and traveling around Southeast Asia. This semester she has taken on the role of undergraduate teaching assistant for an introduction to software development course. In the summer of 2016 Kate interned with NetSuite Oracle as a product manager Intern in San Mateo, CA. Kate is from Foothill Ranch, CA.
Zainab Mahmood is a senior studying biomedical engineering with a minor in biophysics. She is an active member of the School of Engineering and Applied Science Student Peer Advisory Network (SEASSPAN) and she loves mentoring incoming SEAS freshmen. She also works in a cardiac electrophysiology lab under SEAS Professor Matthew Kay. Zainab enjoys spending her free time at the Georgetown water front or the National Mall with her friends. During the spring of 2106, she studied abroad at Korea University in Seoul, South Korea. Zainab is from Long Island, NY.
Jillian Miles is a senior in the Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering, working toward a degree in systems engineering. Jillian is a member of Alpha Omega Epsilon, a professional engineering sorority, as well as the Society of Women Engineers. She also performs with Balance: The GW Ballet Group, and is a School of Engineering and Applied Science Student Peer Advisor Network (SEASPAN) mentor. Jillian hopes to pursue a career in systems engineering relating to international development. In the the spring of 2016, Jillian studied abroad in Cape Town, South Africa. Last summer, she worked in Professor Erica Gralla's lab on a systems engineering research project for USAID in Kampala, Uganda. Jillian is from Richmond, VA.
Nathalie Mitchell is a senior in the Department of Computer Science. She has interned at Lockheed Martin and is interested in pursuing software engineering. At GW, she is involved with the Association for Computing Machinery, Society of Women Engineers, and Engineers Without Borders. Nathalie is from North Potomac, MD.
Tania Singh is a senior in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical engineering with a minor in biophysics, and she plans to seek an MD/Ph.D. following graduation. Tania has been with working SEAS Professor Vesna Zderic's Therapeutic Ultrasound Lab since the summer of 2015 studying the effects of ultrasound on pancreatic beta cells. During the spring of 2016, Tania studied at Queen Mary, University of London. Tania is a learning assistant for the Physics Department and a tutor for the Athletic Department. Tania is from Edison, NJ.
Caitlin Whitter is a senior in the Department of Computer Science. Her research interests include algorithms and theory, especially in energy and healthcare. Caitlin is an undergraduate researcher and instructor in the GW computer science department, a member of the University Honors Program, the co-president of Women in Computer Science, and a mentor in the SEAS Peer Advisory Network. During spring 2017, she studied abroad at Queen Mary, University of London. During summer 2017, she was an engineering intern at Qualcomm in San Diego. Caitlin is from Washington, D.C.
