Tribute to Dr. David Dolling

At the 2019 GW Engineering Hall of Fame, the School of Engineering and Applied Science paid special tribute to former SEAS dean Dr. David Dolling and to his decade of leadership at the school. The tribute focused on his legacy of transforming the school and creating a foundation for its continued growth.

 

The tribute began with a brief video overview of his legacy.

During the ceremony, Dean Lach announced a new $380,000 endowed scholarship created in Dr. Dolling’s name to honor his commitment to increasing the number of SEAS women students and faculty members. The David S. Dolling Endowed Scholarship in Engineering will support future generations of undergraduate women students in SEAS. Dr. Dolling is pictured above with the scholarship’s first recipient, Ms. Siobhan Whittle, a junior who is majoring in mechanical engineering.

Dr. Dolling also received a special video salute from SEAS alumna and NASA astronaut Serena Auñón-Chancellor, B.S. '97, and a GW lapel pin that she took to the International Space Station in 2018, when she served aboard it on a six-month mission. Dean Lach did the honors of pinning it on Dr. Dolling in Dr. Auñón-Chancellor’s stead.
