Emily DeVito
Emily DeVito is the Director of External Partnerships for George Washington University’s School of Engineering and Applied Science. After commissioning through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) upon graduation from Boston University, she served on active duty in the United States Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer. As a naval officer, Emily participated in western Pacific deployments for expeditionary and anti-piracy operations around the Persian Gulf. She was then stationed at Headquarters, United States Forces, Japan, serving in the operations center during Operation Tomodachi following the triple earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis. After transitioning from active duty status, Emily began work in higher education, in roles focused on partnerships with the Department of Defense, the federal government, Veteran/ Military Service Organizations, and industry- connecting service members and veterans with resources to pursue their education benefits. She also worked for the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), analyzing and consulting with Congress on issues related to economic opportunity and was twice invited to testify before the US House of Representatives Veterans Affairs Committee. In her current role, Emily works to connect GW Engineering initiatives to external partners in the realms of workforce development, experiential learning, student talent pipelines, research, and philanthropic efforts.
