William Soller, a student at the School Without Walls High School in Washington DC, has been working with Prof. Matthew Kay (ECE) and his graduate student, Huda Asfour, to study the electrical impedance of cardiac cells. Last week he was awarded second place in the Washington DC Regional Competition for the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (http://www.jshs.org/). His research presentation was entitled "A Novel Device for Improved Impedance Measurement of Cell Monolayers." William will next present his project at the JSHS National Competition in Bethesda. High school science competitions in the DC area are extremely competitive and this is a major accomplishment for him.
