GW Engineering alumnus Lieutenant General (Ret.) Thomas P. Bostick, PhD, PE, NAE, recently published an op-ed in Forbes, “Business Leaders Must Invest In Future Engineers,” addressing the widening STEM skills gap and its impact on the United States. He urges business leaders to take action by expanding STEM education in elementary schools, fostering interdisciplinary problem-solving, and establishing public-private partnerships. Drawing from his leadership experience at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bostick highlights how these initiatives can drive innovation and strengthen the nation’s engineering workforce.

Here is an excerpt from the article: “The future of American innovation depends on the actions we take today. If U.S. companies take the lead today, they will close the skills gap and ensure American global leadership in technology, innovation, infrastructure, biosecurity–and ultimately national security.”
