In the article “Our brains play a surprising role in recovering from a heart attack,” New Scientist reports on research out of the University of California, San Diego that examines how sensory neurons produced by the link between the heart and brain can be manipulated to speed up recovery. The author interviewed Professor of Biomedical Engineering Matthew Kay, who was not involved in the study, to comment on new tools that allow researchers to identify these changes in greater detail.
