In the article “Smarter robots could help autistic adults thrive in manufacturing jobs,” Virginia Tech highlights a research collaboration that includes GW faculty members Chung Hyuk Park, associate professor of biomedical engineering, and Young Hoon Kwak, associate professor of data science. The team, led by Virginia Tech, aims to increase autistic employment and develop collaborative robots, or “cobots,” that can help these individuals thrive in manufacturing careers. GW's share of the NSF grant is $380,000.

Here is an excerpt from the article: “Funding the research is a National Science Foundation grant of over $1.5 million to collaborators at Virginia Tech, George Washington University, and the University of Notre Dame.”
