At GW, students from a range of academic backgrounds share an interest in careers in information technology, yet until recently, no central group connected them. Recognizing this gap, GW students Chris Enriquez and Delina Kahsay, both information systems majors in the School of Business, and the rest of their Eboard launched the Student Information Technology Association (SITA) to unite students pursuing tech-related fields, including computer science, engineering, and beyond, around professional development and community building.

Enriquez came up with the idea for GW SITA to solve issues he experienced in his studies, including a lack of understanding about potential career paths and a community to discuss hands-on tech skills. He will serve as GW SITA’s president alongside Kahsay as vice president, but the Eboard will feature students from across GW, including a mechanical engineering major as the sophomore representative, reflecting their mission to connect and support students in tech-focused majors.

Although newly established, GW SITA already has general body meetings and guest speakers lined up for Fall 2025, featuring GW alumni from companies like Deloitte, Amazon, and CGI who will share insights on internships, certifications, and careers in IT. To give members practical experience for their resumes, the organization also plans to host project-based workshops and tech competitions, along with a shared resource folder, mentorship program, and officer ascension track.

“If you want help preparing for the job market, then we want to be the place where you can go to gain those resources and connections,” said Kahsay.

GW SITA is open to all students interested in information technology, regardless of major or technical background. For GW Engineering students looking to apply their technical skills in real-world contexts, the organization offers a valuable bridge to industry.
