GW Engineering alumni are leaders in their fields, frequently recognized for their expertise and for providing valuable insight on national and global industry challenges. In the article “The shipping industry’s most influential people,” Lloyd’s List released the 2024 edition of its Top 100 list. GW Engineering is excited to announce that alumnus Chris Wiernicki ranked #68 in this year's rankings! This list honors individuals who have made bold contributions to maritime trade, such as Wiernicki’s role in facilitating a collaboration with Marad to establish a new research center aimed at advancing decarbonisation efforts in the US shipping industry.
Here is an excerpt from the article: “Shipping veteran Christopher Wiernicki returns to our Top 100 rankings following an eight-year hiatus, as an industry-wide recognised thought-leader whose knowledge and expertise encompasses everything from decarbonisation and sustainability to marine safety and naval architecture. Wiernicki, who is both chairman and chief executive of the Houston-headquartered class society ABS—and, until recently, also president before long-serving company executive was promoted to the role—has more than 35 years’ experience in the business.
Yet despite entering the twilight years of his career, there has been little sign of the elder statesman slowing down over the past 12 months. He has been busy clocking up plenty of airmiles to sign off on a plethora of initiatives and industry collaborations, while voicing his notoriously frank opinions at numerous conferences and seminars across the globe.”
