Each month, we highlight members of GW Engineering's administrative team, whose tireless work keeps our school moving forward.
London Faust is a member of the Academic Advising, Enrollment Management, and Academic Success (AEMAS) team in GW Engineering’s Office of Undergraduate Studies and Student Success. As part of this team, London advises all current and prospective students in Civil Engineering, Systems Engineering, and select Engineering-Undecided students, helping them navigate degree requirements, connect with school and university resources, and find opportunities outside the classroom. Get to know February’s Local Hero, London Faust, in the Q&A below!
Q: How long have you been working at GW, and what is your position?
A: I have been at GW for 5 years, and I have been working in GW Engineering for 3 years. I am the Assistant Director for Undergraduate Academic Advising and Student Success.
Q: What led you to this career?
A: I am a career educator. I worked in numerous positions at the K-12 level before transitioning to higher education. I have a passion for helping young people reach their academic and career goals, which began when I was a college student at UMD in College Park and volunteered for summer transitional programs that mentored the next class of students as they transitioned to college.
Q: Why did you choose GW?
A: GW has a unique reputation for being a trendsetter and for the prime location in Washington, D.C.
Q: What is one thing you wish you'd known when you started working at GW?
A: The siloed nature of the university.
Q: What is your favorite part about working at GW Engineering?
A: I enjoy helping students through difficult situations and the growth of the student’s character that comes along with it.
Q: Why would someone want to work at GW Engineering?
A: There are caring individuals who are invested in the success of the students we serve.
Q: What is your biggest work pet peeve?
A: Asking for input after decisions are made and following up with students after multiple attempts.
Q: What’s your ideal way to spend the weekend?
A: Relaxing, watching sports, and performing community service with fraternity brothers.
Q: What's one of your favorite memories from the past year?
A: Buying my first home.

A: I would like to keep individuals guessing, haha!
