Assigning teaching assistants to courses presents a challenge for university departments based on the time and difficulty involved in assessing applicants’ aptitude for teaching various classes. Developed for the GW Computer Science Department, our application addresses this by introducing an algorithm to automatically score and assign teaching assistants to courses based on TA applications, a provided class schedule, and time-slot preferences.
Who experiences the problem?
Department heads for universities, and generally people who need to create schedules for workers with inconsistent working hours.
Why is it important?
Creating schedules for teaching assistants is hard. You have to balance scheduling criteria that can be very difficult, but also balance out who would potentially make a good candidate.
What is the coolest thing about your project?
The coolest thing about our project is being able to work for the awesome professors at the Computer Science department.
